Corkagh Park, Dublin

This former estate used to belong to Lewis Chaigneau but it’s now owned by Dublin County Council and is used for cycling, walking and outdoor activities.

Corkagh Park is in the south of Dublin city and used to be called Corkagh Demesne. There used to be two manor houses on site as well as gunpowder mills run by Nicholas Grueber, who leased the estate from Lewis Chaigneau after Chaigneau bought the property in the 1720s. Dublin County Council bought the park in 1983 and is 120 hectares in size. They’ve rejuvenated the park, planting 20,000 trees in the early 1980s and 1990s and have built Ireland's only purpose-built cycle track here. There’s also a petting farm and fairy wood for children, caravan park, and lots of pitches and places to walk for visitors.
