Let the tropical flavours transport you around the world.

The word ‘trópico’ comes from the Greek word τροπικός [tropikós], which means ‘lap’. Trópico was born from this idea. Created by two friends with a shared passion for food, Rafa (from Colombia) and Rodrigo (from Brazil), they strive to bring you a different and exotic culinary experience.

The brunch and lunch restaurant can be found in the multicultural neighbourhood of Raval, where it fits in well with the diverse environment that surrounds it. We enter through a long room, furnished with rattan chairs and cushions with tropical fabrics. There are lots of plants and an abundance of fruit all over the place. We pass the bar to the right at the back of the room and enter into the main space: a large room with lots of natural light and a world map hand-carved into the left wall, making an interesting mural.

Their menu offers a wide range of delicacies from every corner of the globe. For brunch choose between typical crepes from Maghrib with cream cheese and honey, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and herby potatoes, or for the healthier ones among us, a bowl of the Amazonian super berry açaí. Other courses include cachapas just like you would find in Venezuela, curry with Indian spices, or a Peruvian ají de gallina. To nibble they do incredible fried plantains, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - a staple food of the tropical lifestyle. If you are a vegetarian, there’s no need to worry as many of the options have vegetarian versions.

And to finish off, you have to try one of the fruit smoothies, like the Indian mango lassi with cardamom, the red dragon fruit smoothie from the Americas, or the ultimate queen of tropicalness: papaya, pineapple and passion fruit. After just one taste of the exotic flavours your mind will transport you around the world. So you can save your holiday money this year and leave the physical travelling to them.
