The Musée des Confluences has teamed up with the Institut Lumière to bring you a temporary exhibition dedicated to the fathers of cinema, the Lumière brothers.
In order to celebrate the lives and work of Auguste and Louis Lumière, the Musée des Confluences has teamed up with the Institut Lumière to bring you a temporary exhibition dedicated to the fathers of cinema. The exhibition features the best bits from the Institut Lumière to tell you the story of the Lumière family; from the groundbreaking invention of the cinematograph in the 1890s to their numerous other cinematic inventions and even footage of their early films. Look out for the towering wall of small screens showing clips of their old films on repeat, as well as a recreation of an 19th century film projection salon where you can step back in time for a minute and enjoy the silent movies.
The exhibition celebrates Lyon as the birthplace of modern cinema, an invention that brings together art, science and industry, and keeps growing year after year.
You don’t need a seperate ticket for the temporary and permanent collections so check out the other science and anthropology exhibits at the Musée des Confluences, especially the temporary exhibition ‘Venenum’ which is open until 13th April 2018.
