An exhibition from young photographers aiming to capture ‘industry’ and all that entails at the MAST Gallery.
Previously called the GD4PhotoArt competition, for its fifth edition, this international event has been renamed MAST FOUNDATION FOR PHOTOGRAPHY GRANT ON INDUSTRY AND WORK. Every two years, young (i.e. under 40) photographers from all over the world submit collections on industry, technology, territory and labour. Four are chosen as finalists and get to have their work displayed. This year, the finalists are: Mari Bastashevski, Sara Cwynar, Sohei Nishino and Cristóbal Olivares with Cwynar and Nishino tying for first place.
The exhibition shows their attempts to capture an industrial and technological world. As consumers, we all depend on industry but it’s not always clear what this looks like. These photographers show us how it affects the landscape, the workers and more, to give us a clearer picture of industry today.
