Café with an ecological kitchen in Gràcia.

The olive-green entrance of the cafe looks onto a small trafficless street in Gràcia and is flanked by two olive trees, giving off Mediterranean vibes. The main space includes some tables with cushioned benches and chairs, and a raised bar with stools at the back of the room which serves anything from herb teas to spirits. A short set of steps take us into the second space where there’s a communal table on the left and a sofa on the right which looks out to the interior patio, which is great for children. Mama’s Café has a comfortable and familiar atmosphere, encouraged by the communal tables and multilingual staff, a factor which makes it especially favoured by foreigners and travellers.

The café is very popular for its ecological kitchen which stays open for as long as the place itself is open. They offer a varied menu which comprises entirely of fresh, ecological ingredients, with particularly good breakfast/ brunch options (served all day), such as the fried eggs with over baked tomato, avocado, mesclun, sunflower seeds and toast. They also offer a wide range of tapas and freshly baked cakes, with decent vegan options. The only downside is that you end up paying a bit more than normal, but the quality of the ingredients is definitely noticeable.
