Just north of Villa Borghese, the museum is in the enormous neoclassical Palazzo delle Belle Arti. It is an early 20th century masterpiece designed by Cesare Bazzani. Along the facade there are architectural friezes decorated with the four figures of fame holding bronze wreaths. On the steps below there  are statues of a pride of lions with the quote time is out of joint, making it a truly impressive entrance to the wonderful museum inside.

Walking through the gallery doors you'll find yourself in an enormous hall filled with natural daylight. Behind the ticket office are free lockers, the museum also offers a bookshop and cafe.  Continuing straight through the large Hall you'll find yourself in the ever-changing exhibition room, always displaying the latest and greatest of Modern Art.

The museum contains some of Italy's finest contemporary artists including, Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Alberto Burri, Antonio Canova, Giorgio de Chirico, Lucio Fontana. Beyond this, the gallery also displays foreign works of art. To name only a few, this includes  Braque, Calder, Cézanne, Degas, Duchamp, Klimt, Kandinsky, Monet, Jackson Pollock, and Van Gogh.

Even if Modern Art isn't for you,  walking around the museum you can appreciate the impressive architecture, views of the park, garden, and the beautiful courtyards within.
