Dr. Bajamonti, who was mayor at the time, wanted to show that the city of Split had a culture rich in Italian tradition. The square is surrounded by buildings except the side which overlooks the Riva harbour and the Adriatic Sea where cultural and musical events take place.
Every year, the traditional pop music festival “Split” is held there. There are plenty of places to eat or drink and it’s fun to hang out here either by day or night.
