Sponza Palace, Dubrovnik

Built in the 16th century, the Sponza Palace, with its elegant columned facade and ornate detailing is a blend of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles.

Initially designed as a customs house and a trading hub, the palace also served as a mint, treasury, and state granary at different points in history.

The central atrium and courtyard, surrounded by arcades, were once bustling spaces for trade and commerce. Today, the palace houses the State Archives of Dubrovnik, preserving a vast collection of historical documents and records.
