Cafe Ritter, Vienna

Known as the ‘Knight’, this late 19th-century cafe comes complete with candelabra, mahogany, and marble table tops.

Although Cafe Ritter is the last remaining large coffeehouse on the popular shopping street Mariahilfer Strasse, it’s one of the first things that you’ll notice as you walk through one of Vienna’s busiest districts. Since it opened in 1867 Cafe Ritter has offered its guests much more than just a coffee: the 1950s style chairs, tables and chandeliers are like nothing else in Vienna. The food is just as impressive, as the variety of teas, coffees, cakes and croissants make a tasty option if you're looking to treat yourself for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon snack.
