Ukrainian National Chernobyl Museum, Kiev

The museum is an educational yet deeply moving insight into the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster.

The explosion at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on the 26th April 1986 was truly devastating for Ukraine and its surrounding countries, with the political, social and environmental consequences still felt today. The Ukrainian National Chernobyl Museum explains its causes and consequences to teach future generations about the risks of nuclear power.

The museum displays many artefacts from within the power station including safety gear, technical equipment and some of the rescue vehicles which were sent into Chernobyl to assist with the disaster. Several exhibits - including videos and scale models - explain the technical progression of the disaster, and there are many solemn memorial areas dedicated to the loss of life and cultural ramifications.
