Manneken-Pis which means "the boy peeing" in Dutch is a symbol of Brussels folklore.
The Manneken-Pis is the famous fountain taking the form of a copper statue of 55,5 centimeter representating a naked boy peeing.
Before becoming such a symbol, it was a fountain which played a major role in clean water distribution since the 15th century. It lost its principal use during the 19th century with the installation of the water supply network, but still remains an important icon of the city.
