Museum of European Cultures, Berlin

The Museum of European Cultures takes a look at the culture of European life

The Museum of European Cultures was founded in 1999 after collaboration by various Berlin museums including The Museum for Folklore, Royal Collection for German Folklore, Museum for German Traditional Costumes & Handicrafts and The Europe Cabinet. It has combined these collections together and now displays traditional cultural items from throughout the European world.

The Europaischer Kulturen’s aim is to highlight the evolution of European lifestyles from the 18th century to the present-day with specific interest paid in the variety of different cultures. The museum is located alongside the Ethnological Museum and The Museum of Modern Art in the Dahlem district. Together they are known as the Dahlem Museums and feature what must be the most interesting collection of cultural items anywhere in Germany.
