One Day in Valencia

It’s quite possible to see almost everything essential in one day in Valencia. You might not be able to actually visit the museums or go into buildings but you can definitely admire the architecture. Using Divento’s itinerary planner, you can choose if you want to go flat out or and see as much as possible or whether you want to just see the highlights in a rather “laid back” fashion.

We decided to set the itinerary planner to “flat out” so that you can see as much as possible, so let’s get prepared for a lot of walking which is the best way to explore the old town of Valencia

Start your day with an amazing breakfast in a traditional Valencian café: Horchatería de Santa Catalina. You can try a famous drink which comes from Valencia - Horchata de chufa with Fartónes. From here you can admire the Santa Catalina bell tower. Next, according to Divento’s itinerary planner, an eight-minute walk will take you to Town Hall Square – one of the most famous and beautiful squares in Valencia. Once you get there you can see the magnificent Town Hall building which you can pop into.  Coming out, don't forget to have a look at a breath-taking Post office building. Whilst you’re there, you can also have a quick stop in front of the Valencian Station North.

Divento then suggests, on your way to the Palace of the Marquis of Campo that you stop over at El Micalet – the bell tower of Valencia’s cathedral. Make sure you have a look inside. It’s definitely worth seeing. When you finish this go behind the building where you will spot the Palace of the Marquis of Campo.

Divento then suggest that you head to Virgin square. This place has a truly magical atmosphere not just because of its historical importance but also, today, as a centre of street art and a meeting point. We bet you can’t wait to see what The Virgen de los Desemparados Basilica is hiding.

Newt Divento’s planner suggests a little break to recharge your energy. Have a stop in Café de las Horas. It’s the best place to have a little snack or indeed lunch. Don’t forget to try their Aqua de Valencia – famous Valencian cocktail. The terrace is very pleasant but the interior of this restaurant is a pure art in terms of decorations and atmosphere.

According to Divento you should now head for the Plaza de Manises where you can admire the beautiful Baroque Palacio de la Generalitat and the Hotel Palacio Vallier.

Next on Divento’s itinerary is the Turia Gardens where you can have a true Spanish siesta or you can go for a little walk to enjoy its vibrant atmosphere.

The garden leads you directly to see The Flower Bridge which is right next to The Sea Bridge. The Flower Bridge is always full of blooming flowers no matter in which season you visit Valencia.

From there Divento suggests that you take a bus to the beach and have a late dinner at the Restaurante Cocoa PataconaEven if it’s raining, don’t worry, the restaurants are well prepared.
