The Auschwitz Memorial should be on everybody’s bucket list. Even if you have already seen black and white photos of the railway terminal that shipped so many people to the gas chambers, the skeletal pyjama-clad prisoners on the snow-covered ground, the mountains of locks of hair shawn from detainees or their abandoned shoes and suitcases, nothing could be more moving than a visit to the site itself.
