The only guildhouse open to the public in Barcelona. Learn about the silk making process and the history of the trade in this beautifully decorated house.

La Casa de la Seda (The House of Silk), located in the heart of Barcelona, is the only guildhouse in the city offering visits to the public.

Since the 18th Century, businessmen would convene there to discuss the running of the silk industry in the city, carefully controlled by a set of rules which the surrounding workshops had to obey.

The house is beautiful inside and out: the original engravings from the 18th Century have been conserved on the building’s façade and inside, the walls are covered in silk. The antique furniture and chandeliers boast elegance, and the tour culminates in the stunning panelled hall (now available for hire for private events).

Expect to be impressed by this building’s beauty and to learn about the fascinating history of silk and how it is made even today. Make sure you book your tickets in advance!
