Sainte Chapelle, Paris

La Sainte Chapelle (Holy Chapel) is a royal medieval Gothic chapel on the île de la Cité in the heart of Paris. It is a must-see for both the aesthetic value of the building as well as for its religious contents. 

The erection of the Sainte Chapelle was commissioned by King Louis IX to house his collection of Passion Relics, including Christ's Crown of Thorns, one of the most important relics in medieval Christendom.

Although damaged during the French Revolution, it was restored in the 19th- Century and retains one of the most extensive in-situ collections of 13th-Century stained glass anywhere in the world.
