Lakeland Motor Museum, Backbarrow

The intriguing Lakeland Motor Museum makes for a fun day out.

Praise has been heaped on the Lakeland motor museum as it was the Cumbrian Tourist Board’s Attraction of the Year in 2000. With over 20,000 exhibits, including cars, motorcycles, tractors, bicycles, pedal cars and engines, it is easy to see why this nostalgic homage to the transport of yesteryear won such recognition.

Full-size replicas of the 1935 Bluebird car and the Jet Hydroplane, Bluebird K7, means that the attraction pays respect to two central figures in Britain’s transport history, Malcolm and Donald Campbell.

This is just one feature of the treasure trove of historical curiosities that may be enjoyed during a visit to this idyllic location.
