If you’re in the mood for a bit to eat but also browse for a book then Le Tasse Livre is the place to go. This quirky spot, next to a quiet square just minutes from Hôtel de Ville, combines the best bits of a café, tea room and bookshop. Help yourself to delicious comfort food, gourmet coffee, pastries and a book! Inside, nestled in the corners, are shelves filled with both popular classics and books from lesser-known, independent publishers.
The food they serve is a mix of the old and new, such as their twists on the classic croque-monsieur: croque-chevre and croque-truite, or their hearty homemade soups, and jacket potatoes with ham, french cheeses and fresh herbs. They also offer a terrific value-for-money lunch menu where you can get either a croque and side for €9 or a jacket potato and side for €10. Add on a dessert and it’s €12 and €13, respectively.
As well as the cosy, indoor seating, there are tables and chairs on decking outside that are always popular on sunny days.
