Cafe by day, restaurant by evening, bar by night. Caravelle has got you covered!
Just a few streets behind La Boqueria Market, one of the busiest spots in Barcelona, you will find this little gem of a cafe. The area, El Raval, has a very localsy feel, as though you’re in a small town that’s been swallowed up by Barcelona, yet still managed to retain its own identity.
The floor-length glass window at the front of the cafe allows you to gaze out at the graffiti covered streets and watch hoards of young skaters glide past. A funky black-and-white tiled floor compliments the relative simplicity of the rest of the decor -white walls, hanging lamps, chunky wooden tables and benches, softened with pretty bunches of flowers on top.
But the most memorable thing about this place is their menu, which will have your mouth watering within seconds. They serve traditional and classic options, but each with their own twist that makes them even more irresistible. Let’s just say that if you order poached eggs you wont get any old poached eggs; they’ll be topped with roast pumpkin seeds, whipped feta, pumpkin seed pesto, and served on sourdough toast. If you fancy something sweet, try the ricotta pancakes served with salted caramel butter, roasted bananas and raspberry coulis, or the coconut French Toast with fresh strawberries and cream.
With extensive brunch, lunch and dinner menus, it’s impossible to decide. And what’s more, every single thing on their menu is homemade; they even have their own nano brewery on site.
