This villa was built in 1542 by Andrea Palladio, commissioned by the brothers Girolamo, Pietro and Marcantonio Godi who were in competition with the Piovene family (owners of Villa Piovene built from 1539-1540). The mammoth Villa Godi, with its frescoed halls, showed off the wealth of the family and enhanced their noble status and position within the highly competitive society of Vicenza.
Today, you can visit this villa and explore the nine decorated halls, well-kept gardens and Fossil Museum (containing 352 species). There is also a restaurant, ‘II Torchio Antico’.
