This villa dates back to the early years of Palladio’s career. It was first planned between 1542 and 1543 and was built in collaboration with other architects. The villa was commissioned by the brothers, Marcantonio and Adriano Thiene.
The construction of the villa was put on hold when Adriano fled Vicenza in 1547 for religious reasons. The villa was not finished until the 18th-century, but even then, it did not completely fulfil Palladio’s original plans. What we see today is just a small part of the intended project (but still large enough to serve as the town hall of Quinto Vicentino since 1871).
