Wenceslas Square is the business centre of Prague, one of the city’s best shopping streets, and home to the National Museum.
Wenceslas Square was created when Charles IV founded Prague’s New Town in 1348. It is a long square lined with shops, cinemas, theatres, banks and restaurants, and can offer visitors one of the best shopping experiences Prague has to offer.
At the north end of the square stand the grand National Museum building, which is currently closed for refurbishment but remains an impressive landmark, and the statue of Saint Wenceslas, Duke of Bohemia.
