Fira de Santa Llúcia, Christmas Market, Barcelona

The Fira de Santa Llúcia is a Christmas market, the oldest in Barcelona. With a great variety of stalls, the market is a must for any Yuletide visitor.

the Fira de Santa Llúcia is a staple of Barcelona’s Christmas calendar. A Christmas market is something that the city’s summer visitors won’t get to enjoy, but it’s a great reward for those who venture south in the winter.

Christmas markets are most associated with Germany. At the Fira de Santa Llúcia, you’ll find all the charm of a German market with a distinctive Spanish slant. For example, you can buy musical instruments traditionally played at Christmas in this part of the world, such as the zambomba and tambourines. Many activities like dancing, presentations, parade, performances and others.

You’ll also find Christmas essentials such as nativity scenes, lights, and of course trees.
It’s advised to visit the market twice, once in the day and once at night. The atmosphere changes noticeably. The neighbouring Placa de Sant Jaume always features a nativity scene in the festive season.
