This is the first international retrospective exhibition of this pioneering designer, which takes you back to the swinging 60s and the 70s. It is a must-see for anybody and everybody who loves this vibrant period.
Anybody over 60 will be lucky enough to have dim recollections of the storm which swept through the UK with the Beatles, the twist, Mary Quant’s mini skirt and models, Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy.
Now, thanks to the archives of the V&A and of Mary Quant herself, as well as the public who responded via a hashtag - #wewantquant, you can browse through 120 garments including colored PVC raincoats, buttercup yellow ankle boots, gathered necklines, raised hems, pinafores and shifts. There is also some fascinating video footage to add to the ambiance, reminding one of the all the other revolutionary fashions of the time from the dance moves to the boufon hair dos.
