The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza presents an exhibition that explores the relationship between two great creators of the 20th century - Pablo Picasso and Gabrielle Chanel - bringing art and fashion together once again.

Picasso and Chanel collaborated professionally on two occasions, both with Jean Cocteau: on Antigone (1922) and on Sergey Diaghilev's ballet The Blue Train (Le Train Bleu, 1924). They had met in the spring of 1917, probably through Cocteau himself or through Misia Sert. The designer struck up a long and lasting friendship with both of them that would introduce her to the Spanish painter's circle. From then on, Chanel frequented the Olga and Pablo Picasso, coinciding with the artist's active participation in Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The artist became closely associated with the artistic and intellectual world of Paris at the time, to the point of saying: "it is the artists who taught me rigour".

The Picasso/Chanel exhibition brings together an exceptional selection of dresses, oil paintings, drawings and other works from American and European museums and collections, among which Almine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, Patrimoine de CHANEL and the Musée national Picasso in Paris stand out for their generous collaboration.
