Roman Forum, Thessaloniki

Founded in 315 BC by King Cassander of Macedon, Thessaloniki was named after his wife, Thessalonike, who was the half-sister of Alexander the Great. The forum evolved over the centuries, showing how the city developed under Roman rule.

The Roman Forum of Thessaloniki, also called the Ancient Agora, used to be the core of Thessaloniki where citizens debated, traded goods, and celebrated festivals.

Wander around the different  structures in the forum, from the Odeon, an ancient theater where musical and theatrical performances were hosted, to the Stoa, a covered colonnade, which served as a bustling marketplace and a gathering place for intellectual discussions.
