Palazzo Schifanoia, Museum of Ancient Art, Ferrara

Built in the 15th century, the Palazzo Schifanoia, (translated as "Palace of Joy’) is now the Museum of Ancient Art.

The palazzo was commissioned by Alberto V d'Este, the Duke of Ferrara, as a summer retreat. It later became a residence for the papal legate, hosting diplomatic events and cultural gatherings.

Today, the museum houses a  collection of sculptures, paintings, and decorative arts from the Renaissance period giving an insight into the artistic and historical legacy of the region.

Surrounding Palazzo Schifanoia are beautiful gardens with lawns, scenic paths and fountains.
