The Cathedral of San Giorgio, originally dates  back to the 12th century, but has been transformed over the centuries, resulting in an assortment  of architectural styles.

On the opposite side, the Ducal Palace and City Hall contribute to the square's grandeur. The Ducal Palace, symbolic of the   Este family, is a harmonious blend of medieval and Renaissance architecture. The adjacent City Hall, with its elegant portico, adds a touch of civic splendor to the ensemble.

At the center of the square stands the Este Obelisk, a towering monument erected in the 18th century to commemorate the Este family's achievements.
