Palazzo Pizzini, Palazzo Angelini and Palazzo Gresta, Ala

In the picturesque, medieval town of Ala you absolutely have to explore this trio of noble palaces, where Mozart and his father were first won over by the great art patrons the Pizzini brothers, Giovanni and Pietro, in August 1771.

It was in the 17th-century Palazzo Pizzini that Mozart first played the piano for the brothers, and to where he and his father returned whenever they passed through Ala. The neighbouring 18th-century Palazzos Angelini and Gresta form a single housing complex, and the large ceiling fresco inside and the Moses fountain decorating the façade of the building are well-worth a visit.
