Bucharest National Opera House

Built in 1953 to replace the National Theatre that was bombed during the Second World War, the National Opera House has the lavish interior of a typical 19th century opera house.

Built in 1953 to replace the National Theatre that was bombed during the Second World War, the National Opera House still has the lavish interior of a typical 19th century opera house. The Romanian National Opera and Ballet perform here from September to June. It’s great for people new to opera, because the dress code is quite chilled, so there's no pressure to dress up really fancily if you don’t want to.
