Abraham: Out of One, Many, Exhibition, St Paul’s Within-the-Walls, Rome: 3 May-9 June 2019

Presented at the St Pauls Within-the-Walls or San Paolo dentro le mura, also known as the American Church in Rome, is the peacebuilding exhibition ABRAHAM: Out of One, Many. Behind the exhibition is the non-profit organisation CARAVAN that encourages people of the Middle East and West to come together through art by understanding and enable sharing between different cultures and religions.

The exhibition is in dialogue with- and a response to the increasing prejudice and the recent rise of antisemitism and anti-Muslim sentiment in the Western society of today. To do this, “ABRAHAM: Out of One, Many" focuses on what Muslims, Christians and Jews have in common because of their shared ancestor Abraham.

The exhibition, curated by Paul-Gordon Chandler, attempts to artistically answer the question, “What can Abraham can teach us today about freeing our world from sectarian strife? The celebrated Middle Eastern contemporary artists Sinan Hussein, Qais Al Sindy and Shai Azoulay, from Muslim, Christian and Jewish faith tradition, higlight what we can all learn from Abraham’s example about living together more harmoniously and embracing the “other”.   

The exhibition has its permier in Rome and will tour for 20 months with shows in Paris, France and Edinburgh,before beginning to tour the USA.
