Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium, Moscow

This planetarium opened its doors in 1948 as the second of its kind in the Soviet Union.

Unlike your typical modern planetarium, it was in a monastery until 2005 when a specialist building was built next door. In the main planetarium, there’s a selection of educational films such as Phantom of the Universe and In Search of Dark Matter, or you might prefer to watch one of their lectures on constellations. A simulation of the Soyuz aircraft docking at the International Space Station is also available, alongside five other specialist halls ranging from Astronomy to an exhibition on the Great Star.
