The Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) is a national platform for architecture, industrial design, visual communication and photography.
Established in 1972, it has nearly 150,000 works which range from plans and sketches to models, appliances and furniture created by architects and designers of the 20th and 21st centuries and displayed in temporary and permanent exhibitions.
The Museum of Architecture and Design is at the Fužine Castle, the only remaining Renaissance castle in Ljubljana. The building, with its four defense towers, still has lots of well-preserved historical features and wall paintings.
The museum has a gift shop and a café where you can get uniquely designed Slovenian products and enjoy a good cup of coffee and home-made goodies after exploring the museum.
