National Museum of Rural Life, Glasgow

Just 13 miles from Glasgow’s city centre, you can learn all about Scotland’s rural history on this historic farmland and working farm, boasting Scotland’s largest collection of tractors, combine harvesters and farming machinery.

Take a short walk (or hop on the tractor-trailer ride) to the working farm to meet the animals, including cattle, sheep, Tamworth pigs, and Clydesdale horses. Inside the Georgian farmhouse (home to Lanarkshire’s Reid family for 10 generations) you can explore the perfectly-restored rooms to see how they would have looked in the 1950s.
