Ordsall Hall, Salford

Dating back to 1177, Ordsall Hall is the oldest building in Salford.

The family seat of the Radclyffe family for over 300 years, the hall has since  had many uses, including as a working men’s club and a church hall. You can explore a range of recreated rooms, the gardens, follow the trail around the hall and hear the stories about the two resident ghosts said to haunt the building. here’s also the Frederic Shields Gallery, built in the 1510s, which  today is home to an interactive exhibition of the  Hall’s history. The gardens at Ordsall have been designed to showcase garden elements popular throughout history, including a late Tudor style knot garden, a 20th-century allotment and an orchard of historic fruit varieties.
