MUMOK, Vienna: All year

The MUMOK (MUseum MOderner Kunst) of Vienna is a gallery of modern art in the MuseumsQuartier.  It hosts the works of artists of international fame.

The MUMOK hosts works created by artists of international fame such as Picasso, Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns, as well as representatives of contemporary Austrian and German art.

The structure of this building, in the darkest basalt rock, immediately captures your attention.  The contrast with the white cube of the Leopold Museum, exalts even more the stripes of the rock and the thin vertical windows that face the main square of the MuseumsQuartier.

Beyond the many temporary exhibits, the MUMOK is also home to a very active artistic laboratory and a movie theater for the display of visual arts.  Between the stairs and the futuristic elevators, the internal spaces of the museum look like something out of a sci-fi film.

You will also find a restaurant and bookshop in the premises.
