The museum is in the Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool, and contains a variety of objects associated with the social and commercial history of the port.
Some highlights include ship models, maritime paintings, colourful posters and even some full sized vessels. The museum began in 1862, but was slow to start a collection. It wasn’t until 1931 with the support of Robert Gladstone, that the museum really began, and officially opened as the Mersey Maritime Museum in 1984.
