City of Snow and Ice. Beijing. Exhibition, The Olympic and Sports Museum, Barcelona: 27 February-27 May 2018

Since its inception in Greece in 1896, the torch of the modern Olympic Games has passed from Greece to every continent on Earth. During the last 122 years of the tradition, 43 cities in 23 different countries have hosted the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The exhibition City of Snow and Ice. Beijing commemorates 10 years since the Summer Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008, and promotes the Winter Olympic Games which will be held there in 2022. These Games will make the capital of China the first city in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

After the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008, they have created various foundations and associations in Beijing which have worked tirelessly to “uphold the olympic spirit” and to promote the sustainable development of Beijing, making it an exemplary model for future host cities to follow. With the future Games in mind, all kinds of snow and ice leisure facilities are popping up around Beijing which will allow us to benefit from their cold midwinter and enjoy the Winter Olympics in the stunning snow-covered landscape.
