Conwy Castle, Conwy

Built by Edward I during his conquest of Wales between 1283 and 1289, the castle was part of a wider project to create the walled, defensive town of Conwy.

At the time the combined defences cost the vast sum of £15,000, and over the next few centuries the castle played a vital role in several wars.
