The Tetley, Leeds

The owners, Carlsberg-Tetley ceased ale and beer production on the site in 2011, and most of the buildings on the site were razed and the site given over to a new housing development. However, the original historic Tetley's headquarters was retained to provide commercial office space and, in 2013, space to relocate an existing contemporary art space operating in Leeds, called Project Space Leeds. When it moved into the former Tetley's headquarters, Project Space Leeds was renamed The Tetley and given the specific remit of being the Leeds equivalent of Cornerhouse in Manchester and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. In January 2016 Bryony Bond, former curator at Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, was appointed as the new Creative Director of The Tetley.
