Along the beautiful seafront of Thessaloniki stands a sculpture which is so curious that you can’t miss it.
“The Umbrellas” is a sculpture created by Greek sculptor Giorgios Zongolopoulos in 1997 during Thessaloniki's time as the European Capital of Culture. Each umbrella in the installation reaches a height of about 42 feet (13 meters) and is slightly tilted. It has become one of the most photographed places in the city, often illuminated with various lights, adding to its enchanting appeal.
