Don't miss Tchaikovsky's glorious ballet the Swan Lake, performed by the Paris Opera Ballet, one of the highlights of the 2022-2023 season at Opera Bastille in Paris. Get your tickets in advance!
To compose Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky drew on the legend of the immaculate bird and created one of ballet's most beautiful scores. Marius Petipa's 1895 choreography created the myth of the swan dancer, the ballerina par excellence. Almost a hundred years later, Rudolf Nureyev reshuffled the deck by bringing his own choreographic interpretation to this impossible story between Prince Siegfried and Odette. He adds depth to the psychology of the prince, torn between his duty and his dreams, and illuminates Tchaikovsky's poetic dream with a profound sense of despair.
