Eolssigu! The Sounds of Korea, Exhibition, Museu de la Música, Barcelona: 31 October 2017-3 June 2018.

Brought to us by a special collaboration between the Barcelona Museum of Music, the Seoul National Centre of Traditional Music, the Korea Foundation, the Sounds of Korea exhibition exposes us to the unfamiliar musical practices of South Korea.

As soon as you enter the exhibition space you are confronted by the brightly coloured traditional Korean clothing and unusual-looking instruments which immediately spark your interest. The exhibition is divided into three colour-coded sections according to the social purpose of the music. Audio-visual displays showcase Korea’s rich musical traditions and help us to fully immerse ourselves in the culture. The sound is so different to what we are used to hearing, you will find yourself spellbound, reconsidering your perception of music.
